about us

FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME

Proudly public from day one, Silver Creek is dedicated to pure golf. As you drive through the gate, the outside world stays behind, and you enter an oasis where all that matters is the game you love. Whether you take golf seriously or just like to relax and enjoy a round with friends (or both..), Silver Creek delivers the essentials, and a few extras, too.

Our 18-hole, par 72 Tom Jackson championship golf course’s immaculate Bermuda greens (renovated in 2022), wide fairways and tees that both challenge the low handicappers and make the course enjoyable for beginners are complimented by gorgeous mountain views, great food at the turn, and the most welcoming staff around. As a family business we understand that you are looking for quality at a fair price and strive to deliver just that every day.

So leave your worries at the gate, grab a cart and enjoy a great round. Sink that perfect putt on #6, put (another, sigh) one in the water on #12, make a birdie on 17, try for one on 18 and finish by rehashing it all over a burger and brew at Papa’s. And because the only thing better than golf is more golf, come back and do it all again!

Only nine miles from historic downtown Morganton and one mile from I-40 exit #98, Silver Creek is an easy 20-minute drive from Hickory with its furniture outlets, 45 minutes from Asheville and the Biltmore House, and 60 minutes from the transportation, cultural and sporting center of Charlotte, NC.

Meet the Team

Wesley Jones

Owner, PGA Golf Professional

Wes ran away from the rain in the Pacific Northwest 35 years ago and moved to Hilton Head Island to start his career in golf. There he met his wife, Melissa, and fell in love with the Carolinas. He spent the past 20 years helping raise two daughters and managing public golf courses in Charlotte before moving to Morganton in March of 2020.

Wes gained his class ‘A’ PGA certification in 1993 and finds it hard to believe some of the juniors he worked with are now parents and in their 40’s.

His goal has always been to promote the game of golf and all the great qualities that go with playing.

His Goals at Silver Creek are to provide members and guests an ever-improving high-quality golf course and legendary customer service.

Wes loves talking with people from all walks of life and looks forward to meeting you.

John McCormack-Holderegger

Owner, Gardener

Oregon native (go Ducks!) John McCormack-Holderegger has worked tirelessly to perfect the label of ‘Jack of all Trades, Master of none’. 20+ years in the restaurant business, 12 years as a union electrician, and now three years as the guy who does whatever needs to be done at the golf club have taken him around the country, and landed him back in the South, this time more permanently, setting down some deep roots in the Appalachian foothills. Melissa Cramer Jones

Owner, Food & Beverage Manager

Melissa was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, where she graduated from the University of Kentucky. Prior to moving to Morganton, she and Wes lived in Charlotte, where they raised their two children Emily and Ann. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and playing golf.

Claudia Holderegger McCormack, DC

Owner, Chiropractor

Born and raised in Switzerland, Dr. Claudia came to the US in 2000 to pursue her degree in chiropractic medicine. After 16 years in practice in Portland, Oregon, she and husband John decided to embrace opportunity and adventure and move to North Carolina to join Wes and Melissa Jones in owning and operating Silver Creek. In addition to her duties at the course, Dr. Claudia provides golf-specific health and performance care right in the Silver Creek clubhouse. You can find more information here! In her free time, she enjoys being outside, and she is an active member of the local rescue squad.

Daniel Moneyham

Superintendent

Daniel Moneyham is a 2015 graduate of NC State Turf Maintenance program with a BS in turf grass science. We have been fortunate to have Daniel at Silver Creek since July 2017. Daniel has been busy putting in new drainage in all the sand traps and renovating the greens to ultra dwarf Tif Eagle Bermuda. This upcoming year he will focus on overall health of fairways and improving tees.

Along with helping his wife Emma raise three children, he is also preparing to get his Master’s in divinity.
