The weather gods smiled on the 115 brave participants who took on the hills at our 3rd annual Turkey Trot. From elite runners to those who had trained to reach their goal of walking the route, and spanning seven decades in age, everyone finished, and truly earned their calories for the day!

We have a new course record of 19:28.1 by Curtis Mann from Cortland, NY. The Female winner was Stephanie Sales from Deep Gap, NC with a time of 23:58.6. These times are an amazing achievement on this course, congratulations!

Together with our sponsors, the race raised over $3500 for the Freedom High School Choral Arts program. Thank you everyone, and see you again next year!

Tough Day Tournament

This year a record sixteen people can call themselves Tough Day Champions, as we had a four-way tie in our Captains Choice four-man team competition.

Honestly you could say the overall winner was the golf course. The winning score was 8 under par 64. The highest winning score since we began the competition. No team made it through with fewer than 2 bogeys. The toughest hole of the day was #4, where we had six triple bogeys and two doubles, as a missed putt would roll 30 yards off the green.

Congratulations, two skins were made for $560 each with an eagle on #5 and #18.

If you want a little superintendent’s revenge, mark your calendar for next year’s event on the Saturday following Thanksgiving.
