Wow, what a great weekend we had here at Silver Creek! The Member-Guest Tournament was everything we could have hoped for: Great shots, excellent food, fun with friends and family, lipped-out putts, heart-ache and jubilation… In many cases the difference between first and fourth place was only a shot or two.
The par 3 tournament kicked off the weekend with over 80 players participating. We had 18 closest-to-the-pin awards, and Tim Abernathy and guest Ed Karvois took the top spot on the front 9 with 2 under 25, while Casey Rogers and guest Jimmy Piercy won the back 9 with an impressive score of five under par 22! Great Playing!
Saturday morning started the match play portion of the event. It was a full day of 27 holes of golf. While the golf ended in the rain, the rest of the night was beautiful, with indoor and outdoor seating for the fabulous dinner served by Countryside BBQ.
Day two of the match play proved to be exciting with many flights coming down to the last hole. The overall champions in the shoot-out of the eight flight winners were Jim McMahan and guest Bruce Putnam, who knocked out runner-ups Steve Jones and guest Jim Dolan with a birdie on the 18th hole. Everyone in their flight was happy about their $100 cash bonus, and we just loved the excitement of all the spectators in the carts watching the action.
