Silver Creek member Steve Jetter wins dramatic Burke County Open

Steve Jetter had wobbled on No. 15, but he still felt right at home on Sunday at Silver Creek Golf Club.
He should by now, after all. The third-year club member also lives adjacent to the course.

Jetter used some of that home-course advantage – which also included a sizeable cheering section over the closing three-hole stretch – to win the annual Burke County Open golf tournament by two strokes as he closed the 54-hole event with three straight tap-in pars to rally from one stroke behind Dylan Lancaster and finish with a 2-under total of 214.

Meanwhile, Keith McGillvary (5-under) and Terry Rogers (even par) won the senior and super senior divisions at the tournament. (Story continues in this Saturday’s edition of The Paper, also available online now here.)
